The container investment on the site of the former Heat and Power Plant in Radom has received one of the highest subsidies in the country. The Radom intermodal terminal project has obtained financial support exceeding 108 million PLN from the FEnIKS programme. Thanks to this, the Radom initiative placed second in the nationwide competition ranking.

FEnIKS Competition Results – Investment in the National Top

The ranking published on January 30, 2026 confirmed that the project was among the leading beneficiaries of the programme. As a result, the Radom intermodal terminal project received funding in the amount of 108,012,876.92 PLN. At the same time, the total expenditure on the implementation of the undertaking exceeds 296 million PLN, so European funds will cover more than one third of all costs related to the construction.

The FEnIKS programme supports the development of intermodal transport in Poland and had a budget of 955 million PLN. In addition, the regulations allowed for the financing of up to half of the eligible costs. Ultimately, the commission granted support to 13 initiatives in various regions of the country, as a result of which the total amount of funds exceeded 844 million PLN.

Scope of the Planned Radom Intermodal Terminal Investment

The city presented the project concept already in 2023. The main goal is to create infrastructure enabling the transfer of containers between rail and road transport. Therefore, the scope of works includes the creation of a transshipment area and the expansion of the existing siding with five additional tracks. At the same time, the city will modernize three existing railway tracks.

Infrastructure and Equipment of the Logistics Facility

In addition, the following will be built as part of the project:

  • Administrative and social facilities
  • A hall serving warehouse and logistics functions
  • Expansion of the existing repair hall
  • Container washing installation
  • Workshop and infrastructure serving the railway crane

As a result, the facility will operate non-stop 24 hours a day. It will thus become an important node in the region’s freight transport network.

Importance for the Economic Development of the Region

The construction of the transshipment centre fits into the broader strategy for the development of the city’s transport infrastructure. Moreover, the investment may contribute to the economic growth of the entire region. More information on investment opportunities in Radom can be found here.

The implementation of the project is also an opportunity to create new jobs and improve logistics connections with other important transport hubs in Poland.
