On 23 October 2019, the 1st Radom Career Festival 2019 took place at the Institute of Technology and Exploitation on Pułaskiego Street in Radom. Thirty companies from the construction, metal, food, automation, and transport industries, as well as all Radom vocational schools, presented their offers. The recipients were eighth-grade students from all Radom primary schools, who will soon be choosing their educational path.
“We want to demystify the Radom job market and the Radom economy, and show young people that there are companies in Radom that can offer an excellent professional career path. I am convinced that the result of the festival will be a wise decision that eighth-grade primary school students are facing,” said Ms Katarzyna Kalinowska – Deputy Mayor of Radom.
During the festival, Radom vocational schools also presented their educational offers. Vice-President Karol Semik reminded that the offer of Radom technical schools already enjoys very high interest. Approximately 60 percent of former junior high school graduates, and now graduates of junior high schools and primary schools, choose to study in this type of school.
“This has its basis in our cooperation with employers. On a national scale, we are pioneers when it comes to the dual education system. This year we already have our first graduates. I think that what we have already managed to achieve is a guarantee that this system will continue and will be well adapted to the labour market,” assessed Mr Karol Semik – Deputy Mayor of Radom.
According to the President of the Radom Land Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Łukasz Białczak, the dual education system, which combines acquiring knowledge at school with practical vocational training at the employer, is a very good solution that should be developed.
“The cooperation between the city, entrepreneurs, and schools is exemplary. The effect is that graduates of upper secondary schools immediately find employment and are very well prepared for it,” emphasized Mr Łukasz Białczak.
The 1st Radom Career Festival was organized by the Radom Economic Zone Service Office of the City Hall in Radom in cooperation with the Radom Land Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Chamber of Crafts and Small Business, the Mazovian Local Government Teacher Training Centre – Radom Branch, the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Technology and Exploitation, and the Association of School and Vocational Counsellors of the Republic of Poland.
